Money: Stress Test – 8th May 09

Ten of America’s largest 19 banks need a combined 74.6 billion dollars (50 billion uk) to boost their cash reserves. That is the main finding of “stress tests” to see if the banks have sufficient capital in case of more crisis. We look at the recession and exactly who is being affected in the workplace when it comes to the crunch. Interest rates may have been kept on hold at 0.5% as expected but the London Inter Bank Offered Rate (LIBOR) has been coming down steadily. Donations to the charity Oxfam have dropped and we ask why.
